Shibori Silk Scarf

These beautiful scarves are made from Kimono Silk which is tie-dyed with a very  special labor-intensive technique called “Shibori”. Shibori Tie-dye is done by “pinching” a tiny bit of the silk before it is dyed, tying it about 10 times with silk thread, and then proceeding to do the same thing over and over and over again, until the silk is covered with these tiny tied areas. Then the piece of silk is dipped in dye many times, and the parts that are tied “resist the dye”, and create the unusual texture you see in this scarf.

Your Shibori Silk Scarf may have tiny silk threads popping out here and there, but this is a natural left-over from the Shibori Tie-dye process.
